Why "The Town Crier" ?
Whilst studying the Yoruba culture, we were exposed to the role of the Town Crier. The Akígbe, Gbohùngbohùn or Ajágbe would be the source of news for the community also acting as the voice of the Oba. It is (yes, they still exist) very common for the Criers to grab people's attention through a metal gong before broadcasting the news, hence the gong in our logo. Find out more about the team here.
Who is an International African ?
We understand this term can be confusing, here are a few things used to describe International Africans:
- Africans who aren't UK citizens but are in the UK legally
- Africans who have lived their formative years in Africa
- Africans who offer services predominantly in Africa but have expanded or are expanding to the UK
If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact us here.
Who can join ?
This space is open to anyone & everyone, just as long as you follow the community guidelines.
Why should I promote my event with you?
Not a lot of platforms cater to the larger yet specific group of International Africans in the UK. TTC LDN offers visibility regardless of your size, event category or track record. We will share your event across all of our platforms and connect you directly to potential attendees in our community.
What is the difference between a "Townsperson" and a "Market Person" ?
A Market Person is an event organiser, creative or business owner looking to promote an event that they have coming up. A Townsperson is anyone looking to discover new events and join communities that share the same interests.
What kind of events can I promote on TTC ?
We promote anything from gigs to dj, comedy, spoken word, community, food & drink, sports, workshops, podcast events (and more). As long as your event is within the community guidelines.
How will my event be promoted?
In two ways, on the website & on social media. Your event will be published on the "What's On" page and posted to a relevant group for members to engage. Next, your event will be posted on social media as a part of our events for the month or week. Please note: For social media posts, if you miss the post for events of the month, your event will be posted on social media as part of the "New Events" release or as a standalone post (with the orange borders). Regardless, they will be on the website.
If I need to cancel my event, what should I do?
Let us know via the chat box an we will update the community on all of our platforms and take your event down.
Do I pay to promote my event?
Nope, TTC LDN does not take payments for event promotion. Just share your event with us and we will get the word out!
